2-day Couture Techniques    
    Workshop with Susan Khalje:

Join Couturière Susan Khalje in this hands-on Couture Techniques workshop, where you will learn a variety of hand as well as sewing machine couture techniques.

Elevate the quality of your garments under Susan's close supervision. 

This is not just a small group workshop, it is an event! We truly go all out - the space is beautiful and inviting, the setting small and intimate. The registration fee includes a yummy lunch and refreshments, too.

Level: This small group workshop is perfect for the intermediary sewist (male and female), ages 16 and up.

Skills developed: in this workshop, you will learn:

  • A full array of hand stitches
  • Detailed couture lining application which incorporates underlining and a number of hand stitches
  • A hand-picked embellished zipper
  • Appliquéing lace and creating invisible lace seams
  • A hand-picked lapped zipper application 
  • Ultra-narrow bias spaghetti straps
  • Angled seams
  • French bias binding
  • Covered snaps and their application
  • Bound buttonholes
  • Thread chains and thread bars
  • A contoured grosgrain waist facing
  • Narrow machine hem, and
  • Faggoting.
  • You will also get lots of individual attention from Susan who will provide tons of helpful fitting information and tips
