Leela
The Boss

Leela is a sassy and fashion forward Fashion Designer. Although she may look like a silky terrier, don't let that fool you. Leela is a baby.

Leela has been designing trendy dog apparel since 2010. You can see some of her creations here.

Her dream is to go to college and major in English. Also to own an iBone and become a San Francisco 49ers GoldRush Cheerleader.

Isabela
Founder, Sewing Instructor and Bag Designer

Apart from following Leela's directions to a "t", Isabela is extremely passionate about sewing.  And fabric... She loves fabric! If you happen to know of a Fabric Lovers/Hoarders Anonymous in the area, let us know, will ya?

She has been creating and sewing for  30+ years and absolutely loves to make garments (for herself and her 2 small children) and handbags.

She believes that if "you are not learning, you are decaying." She is constantly honing her skills by taking classes in sewing, pattern making,  fashion design and handbag & accessories design
. She has trained under many Industry Experts both in the US and abroad. She has also taken Fashion Design and Pattern Making courses at Canada College and Academy of Art University.

She is extremely knowledgeable and resourceful and her students love her patient demeanor and sweet personality.  Isabela is a huge fan of Tim Gunn's motto "Make it Work!" She still gets butterflies every time she finishes a project, even after all these years.

Isabela is the Founder of Sewing Lessons in Redwood City. Apart from teaching, she runs all business operations and oversees every single aspect of the school, from emails to curriculum prep to dreaming up new projects and workshops.

Sarah
Sewing Instructor Extraordinaire

Sarah has been sewing since she was 6, and has a background in designing and creating costumes for theater and film. She also has an MFA in Costume Design.

She can't visit a fabric store without bringing home a project, or three.

The only thing Sarah loves more than being surrounded by fabric (and buttons... buttons are her weakness) is being surrounded by eager learners!

Bring your passion and desire to grow and she will help you create something you can be proud of, with skills you can  use for the rest of your life.

Some of her specific skills include making ballet tutus and Disney princess dresses. She enjoys problem

                              Our Studio

When you sign up for one of our classes, you also get to enjoy the perks of working in a nice, professional setup.

The studio is always clean and organized, so you can get to work the moment you walk through the door.

Our students really enjoy the fact that they have access to all the newest sewing tools and gadgets.

We have brand-new, high-end sewing machines and a serger/coverstitch machine at your disposal. Technically, you don't ever have to buy a sewing machine if you don't want to. Just use one of ours.

You may, however, bring your own sewing machine if you own one.  We have worked with many brands in the past and will show you how to use it as well as go over troubleshooting/maintenance tips.

If you are in the market for a new machine, we will give you tips and plenty of knowledge so that you can make a good, educated decision.

We also have lots and lots of eye candy, aka fabric! Fabric so yummy that is sure to bring you lots and lots of inspiration.

Have problems cutting fabric in a straight line? No problem! We've got you covered. We will show you tricks that will have you cutting beautiful, straight lines in no time.

Let's not forget our mascot, aka "The Boss." Meet Leela, the sewing dog. Although, please don't ever tell her she is a dog. She is a baby trapped in a furry body. She is super sweet and supportive! Sassitude is her middle name though.
