Draft your own Pants sloper        Workshop with Kenneth D. King:

We have partnered with the Sewing and Design School and Kenneth D. King is coming to the San Francisco Bay Area!

Learn how to draft a custom pants sloper using your own measurements in this 2-day pattern making workshop with Fashion Designer and Couturier Kenneth D. King.

Being able to sew pants that fit and complement your own body is the ultimate Holy Grail in your sewing journey! Pay homage to your body by dressing it in an impeccable pair of pants. This workshop is sure to elevate your sewing superpowers and bust your confidence.

This is not just a small group workshop, it is an event! We truly go all out - the space is beautiful and inviting, the setting small and intimate. The registration fee includes a yummy lunch and refreshments, too.

Level: This small group workshop is perfect for the confident beginner (male and female), ages 16 and up.

Instructor: Kenneth is professor at F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York and the Sewing and Design School. Kenneth won the Association of Sewing and Design Professional's 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is known for his articles in Threads Magazine, his books, CD books, TV show (Sewing Today), and "Jean-ius" an online class on Craftsy. To read more of his accomplishments, click here.

Skills developed: in this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to take accurate measurements
  • How to draft a custom pants sloper
  • How to add wearing ease to create the sloper, or block (the basic unit of pattern drafting). This will become your base to create many different styles in the future, such as jeans, leggings, trousers, cigarette pants, etc.
  • After a muslin is made, Kenneth will personally show you how to identify fitting issues and make the proper adjustments.
  • How to use the sloper to create different styles and add details  such as pleats, pockets, waistbands, etc.
  • You will also get lots of individual attention from Kenneth who will provide tons of helpful fitting information and tips
