Learn how to draft a custom bodice sloper and sleeve pattern using your own measurements in this 3-day pattern making workshop with Industry Leader & Couturier, Kenneth D. King.

The moulage method is the foundation of the pattern drafting system taught by the Ecole Guerre-Lavigne in Paris. This is a system of measuring the figure, calculating, and drafting a pattern that will fit the torso like a second skin, incorporating any of the infinite variations of shape the human figure can take.

Level: This small group workshop is perfect for the confident beginner, ages 16 and up.

Instructor: Kenneth King, an Industry Leader in the Fashion, Tailoring and Sewing arenas. Kenneth is a professor at F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York and the Sewing and Design School. Kenneth won the Association of Sewing and Design Professional's 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is known for his articles in Threads Magazine, his books, CD books, TV show (Sewing Today), and "Jean-ius" an online class on Craftsy. Read more about him and his accomplishments here.

Skills developed: in this workshop, you will learn:
  • how to take accurate body measurements
  • how to draft a bodice and sleeve slopers using your own measurements. The result will fit your torso and arms like a second skin.
  • how to add wearing ease to create the sloper, or block (the basic unit of pattern drafting).
  • how to use your sloper to create custom clothes or check a commercial pattern, which will enable you to use this tool as a fitting aid, making it easier to adjust patterns to your figure.
